UFO Spot

This page is devoted to Unidentified Flying Objects, a subject which seems to spark much interest and debate wherever it is mentioned. Hopefully you will find this page interesting. If you have anything you would like to add to the information on this page please feel free to use the form at the end of the second column.

Early UFO's

Since prehistoric times, it seems that man has been seeing and recording accounts of strange aerial phenomena. Early man recorded cave paintings depicting what could be described as "flying saucers" and "aliens". Of course much of the evidence is somewhat debatable. Was that early man really drawing a flying saucer, or was he just really bad at drawing birds? Is the ancient statue of a reptilian humanoid creature an accurate depiction of something seen by the sculptor, or was the sculptor just being creative?

Unfortunately none of these early records can be shown without a doubt to represent "flying saucers" or "aliens", but some of them are very interesting.

A 1350's fresco, "The Crucifiction" is often described by proponents of flying saucers as having two clearly distinguishable flying saucers shown to the left and right of Jesus. The one on the left is said to be clearly in pursuit of the one on the right.

Those look like pretty compelling flying saucers don't they? Or are they just the artists fanciful depiction of the Sun chasing the Moon through the sky? Actually, I think the latter is probably the best explanation.

Modern UFO's

The modern UFO era can arguably be said to have begun with aviator Kenneth Arnold's sighting of saucer-like objects in June 1947, and closely followed by the famous Roswell incident in July 1947. The Roswell incident refers to the alledged coverup by the US military of the recovery of a crashed Flying Saucer and several alien occupants. It is probably the best known "alien incident" worldwide.

Since these early beginnings, reports of UFO's have steadily increased from all around the world. The invention of affordable digital cameras has made gathering evidence easier for the masses. Unfortunately it has also made the art of faking evidence far too easy. These days there are more still photographs and movies of UFO's available than ever before - but still we are no closer to an absolute proof that UFO's are anything other than naturally occuring phenomena. There is no one single piece of evidence available to the general public that proves anything other-worldly or other-dimensionary.

Common Explanations for UFO's

Whilst the most interesting possibility is that some UFO's may indeed be vehicles from other dimensions, other planets or other times, the majority of UFO reports tend to be easily explainable as misidentified...

  • Birds
  • Aircraft
  • Stars
  • Venus
  • Balloons or Blimps
  • Atmospheric phenomena
  • Meteors
  • Hoaxes
... there are however a great number of reports which have no known explanation. Skeptics and believers all have some interesting arguments and counter-arguments to explain why they think that the unexplained sightings either are or aren't mundane.

The Arguments

  • Believers: The universe contains literally billions of stars. Many of them are known to have planets. Surely there must be civilisations somewhere in the universe that have advanced their technology to such a stage that they can overcome the limitations of intergalactic travel.
  • Skeptics: Even if there are other civilisations in the universe, it is impossible to travel faster than light and the distances are so vast, that the journey from distant stars would take far too long.
  • Believers: Flying Saucers are not from distant planets, but rather from other dimensions or times.
  • Skeptics: There is no tangible evidence. Show me something alien that I can touch and I will believe.

The President of the USA could take the media on a guided tour of Area 51, showing back engineered space craft and alien beings, and there would still be skeptics.

With the evidence we do have available, skepticism is somewhat understandable, but the mind should be kept open. There is not enough evidence available to the general public to justify either a 100% belief or disbelief in other-worldly visitors.

UFO's in Space

A recent development in the search for extraterrestrial activity has been the availability of NASA film footage from space missions. You only need to do a search for "NASA Footage" on You Tube to find hundreds of video clips containing alleged alien space vehicles and NASA coverups. Quite some interesting viewing and reading. In the majority of the clips NASA explains the anomolous objects as "ice particles", and for the most part they appear to be just that. But there are the odd exceptions which seem to act in very curious ways. Still, you get the die-hard believers who try to convince everyone that even the most obvious ice particle is actually an alien space ship, and the die-hard skeptics who would say that an alien waving from a spacecraft porthole is actually just an anomolous reflection of the cameraman somehow projected into space and somehow altered to look alien.

Missing Time and Abductions

Some of the more interesting cases involving UFO reports, also involve the experience of missing time. The person who sights the UFO later realises that a few hours have inexplicably passed and they have no knowledge of what has occurred during the missing hours. The most famous early case was that of Betty and Barney Hill. This phenomenon has also been brought to light in recent years through the publications of author Whitley Strieber.

Interesting Viewing

Some of the maneuvers attributed to UFO's, as described by witnesses may often seem far fetched. It is very easy to discount a sighting that describes a 90 degree turn at a speed of several thousand kilometers per hour as mere fantasy - impossible for an occupied vehicle. Before making such a judgement though, I would suggest you seek a copy of "Alien Engineering" which is available on DVD, produced by The History Channel. This interesting documentary consults a number of scientific specialists for their views on what types of alien technology might be employed to overcome such things as inertia and light speed limitations.

UFO Evidence

There has been a more open dialogue with the public by many governments in recent years regarding official investigations into flying saucers. Many South American nations are releasing military footage of the pursuit of unidentified objects behaving in an extremely sophisticated manner. Many of these videos are now available on You Tube

There is an interesting official report from Turkmenistan from 1990. During daylight hours on May 25, 1990, a huge disk-shaped object hovered over the Turkmenistan town of Mary at an altitude of around 1000 meters. The craft was observed by military personnel from less than 3000 meters away. Colonel Kurchy gave orders for three ground-to-air guided missiles to be fired at it. The craft maneuvered slightly and disintegrated the missiles with beams of light from its port side. Colonel Kurchy then ordered two interceptor jets scrambled. At approximately 1000 meters, the jets were thrown from the sky, destroying both planes and killing the pilots. Colonel Kurchy was removed from his post by the Air Command and procedures were initiated against him, according to Paragraph 1, Item 5 of the Turkmenistan Criminal Code.

On May 9, 2001, The Disclosure Project held a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC. More that 20 military, government, corporate and intelligence witnesses came forward to tell their stories and to urge open and honest congressional hearings into the subject of UFOs and exotic energy and propulsion technologies. Even after these admissions by so many distinguished ex US government personel, the US government continues to deny the existence of UFO's.

There have been over 3,500 documented sightings of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena by military, civilian and commercial airline pilots. These observations span the entire history of powered flight. Many of these cases come from declassified US government reports and investigations, international reports from official sources and the direct testimony of military and commercial pilots, air traffic controllers, and radar operators. Site Summary: The Coldrick Web Site is available to everyone and the content is family orientated. It is a place to slow down, relax and browse. It isn't a fast paced site. To get the most from the site you need to click a few buttons and read the pages or look at the pictures. There are over 2000 jokes which appear randomly at the bottom of most pages, admittedly many are quite lame. We even believe that the lamest joke in the world may be amongst them - see if you can find it. A few jokes may be slightly risque but we don't believe there are any that would be unsuitable for a young audience. There are over 1700 trivia questions which can be browsed using the random trivia page. You may like to play the trivia quiz when you feel you know enough of the answers. The site also contains some information on UFO's (Unidentified Flying Objects) and some interesting paranormal information including voodoo, spontaneous human combustion and psychic powers. You might like to voice your opinion on the questions in the Polls Page, or check the family tree to see if you may be remotely related to the yobbo's who run the site. We assure you that no Eskimos were harmed in the production of these pages.
